FIELD REPORT: ULTRAMARINES 101st and ½ MECHANZIED DIVISION

PLANET UNERVA PRIME

== REPORT ==

Units of the 101st and ½ Ultramarines received intel that the elements of the Crimson Fists were planning a raid on the Emperor’s own and most holy 10,000 year old Wine Cellar. Since no Communication with Chapter Master Pedro Kantor could be established, these rumors were assumed to be true. Reports of several marine tanks in the area belonging to the Salamanders had been stolen by units of the Crimson Fists.

The Emperor’s Most Holy and Sanctified Chapter Master, Peyton Manning was ordered to wipe out these Heretics, before they can defile the sanctity of the Emperor’s Wine Cellar. They are to be treated as traitors, the same as Chaos, and purged before they can sample any of the bottles of 10,000 year old wine or rather vinegar.

The Ultramarines, were quick to organize a defensive perimeter around the Sacred Wine Cellars, 3 were immediately captured and defended, but 3 more were in the lowly Crimson Fist hands. There was no hesitation, the Ultramarines, through Millennia of battle experience, advanced on these cowardly dogs. Even knowing how the Crimson Fist’s had defended Wrynn’s world, from the green menace, they did not falter in their battle plan: use light blue stuff to kill dark blue stuff. The first shot was fired at and advancing crimson fist rhino, hell bent on making its way deep into Ultamarine ranks. The Ultramarine predator tank, powered up its massive twin linked Lazcannons and fired a tremendous beam of energy at the vulnerable rhino, lighting up the area in a glow so bright that many small animals in the area would never see again. The massive awe inspiring beam made its way to the rhino instantly vaporizing the any insects that happened to be in its way, it hit it’s mark! Sadly for the Crimson Fists, the rhino was struck by a direct hit to its main weapon…a dreaded storm bolter! Loss of such a weapon, knocked a serious blow to the Crimson Fists. With this weapon gone, the Crimson Fists had no choice but to turn and run for cover, using the chief tactic of their chapter…’la Cucaracha’, the dreaded cockroach maneuver. Using the First building they could see like a giant refrigerator, they quickly made a dash for the protective shield that it offered.

Suddenly to the Ultramarines total surprise, a Librarian gated with a unit of sternguard veterans in the middle of 3 rhino’s and the predator tank. Blinded by revenge for the stricken down storm bolter, a single sterngaurd managed to use his Swiss army combo meltagun, bolter, and nail filer to strike the offending predator tank, and strike it in its most vulnerable spot, right between its two treads, immobilizing it. This victory was short lived and the librarian and his sternguard looked around and saw that they were surrounded by a wall of armor. I wish I could tell you that the librarian and his sternguard fought the good fight, and the Ultrmarines let them be. I wish I could tell you that, but combat is no fairy-tale world and the Ultramines kept at them. A whole tactical and sternguard squad of Ultramarines, disembarked and spayed the Crimson Fists with bolter and poison tipped rounds, that they would normally use on lesser creatures such as Tyranids. The librarian and his squad had no choice but to take these in the face. After all was fired, what few remained were covered from head to toe in the blood of their brethren. A shaking cowardly librarian, and two equally shaken surviving sternguard, quickly used chapter tactics and made a mad dash to the nearest building, where inside they were met with cold hard, reality…they were going to die in armor that was now filled almost entirely with urine. The Ultramarines quickly poured in to the building, made short work of these traitors, when they noticed that every shot that they had made into their foes armor sprang forth streams of steaming liquid. To their horror, they almost immediately realized what it was that they were smelling…asparagus, and lots of it!

Witnessing their brethren turned to a pink mist, and then to be disgraced by being turning the rest into water fountains, a lone tactical squad disembarked the rhino that was missing its most sacred storm bolter, and opened fire on the rhino containing the Ultramarines Chapter Master, and Vince Lombardi Trophy winner, Peyton Manning. The lone meltagun attack immobilized the rhino, and at once the marines charged the rhino, like so many screaming preteen girls to a Miley Cyrus concert. Finding that trying to tip over a rhino is not easily accomplished, the lone sergeant used his powerfist to open the door, but instead hit the fuel cell and caused the tank to internally emit a toxic gas, ejecting the chapter master, and 3 of his squad. With the other exits blocked, the rest of the squad succumbed to the deadly toxin. The Crimson Fists again celebrated too fast as then the rest of the Ultramarines performed there patented move the ‘bukaki crunch’, fisting forth 24 marines on the 10 unsuspecting fists. This would mark the end of the Crimson Fists…

When they reached the base from which the lowly, cowardly Crimson Fist traitorous dogs, they found the place littered with sleeping and passed out marines!?!? They found amongst them, none other than Pedro Kantor, sleeping with a sombrero, and a bottle of Tequila next to him. When woken and questioned out of his state, which he referred to as a ‘siesta’. He was able to account for all his marines, but not for their armor. It was found that the Crimson Fists always celebrate the 5th of May, and that local teenager’s stole their power armor and tank jacked the Salamander’s rhinos for a Beer Run. The librarian was found to be no more than a mere student, one that had only passing knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system. Several Ultramarines reported later that the Crimson Fists they fought did seem to be waving their arms instead of fighting, and that they could have been flagging down the chapter master and not trying to tip the tank. Further investigation found that most of the Ultra Marine casualties in the command tank, were a result of an lone Ultramarine that attended the may 5th party the night before with the Crimson Fists and engaged too many burritos.

Battle Report April 1st 2010

An old bombed out village was the setting for this engagement.
A force of Tyranids with a contigent of mind controlled, enslaved chaos space marines were out on a hunt for some necron technology that was showing up on some scanners. Once they were in the area they happened upon a group of Ultra marines and Imperial guard who were out looking for the same materials. Once both sides caught sight of each other the combat ensued. The IG set up a ranged defensive posture in one corner of the area while the marines, being that they are marines, charged forth into the ruins of the village to engage whatever was heading toward them led by the assault marines. Out from the fog of the village emerged the tyranids fielding the monstrous carnifex alongside the enslaved groups of Nurgle Death Guard. Things got ugly once everyone was in range and opened fire. A crazed Death guard champion raced across the map to try and out flank the marines but was swarmed by a Tactical squad who tore him off the bike and killed him. They were also assisted in this by the IG forces to make sure the Champion wasn't getting back up. The Imperial guard were holding their own against most of the tyranid forces until a unit of genestealers came at them from the side of the battlefield. This cause the guard to open up with all they had and destroy the first wave of bugs. After this a second wave entered the map and dismantled a bane wolf which caught fire from all the damage and exploded. The bugs were able to shield them self and take minimal damage from this but since they ended up in front of a Leman russ tank which landed a shell directly in the unit destroying it. In the end both sides had taken heavy losses but the Imperial forces were able to hold onto and recover more of the Necron technology thus winning the day!

Battle Report sunday march 28 2010

Today saw a pitched battle between Marshall (IG) and Jim (SM) in an annihilation battle at ~1700 points. The battle took place at Time warp comics and the terrain was the big and small hills and some ruined buildings.
It started out with troops making maneuvers for the best positions to do the most damage on both sides. Jim's side went first and since the range wasn't quite there they mainly moved up. During Marshall's turn he was able to land some hits and cause casualties to the marines with some of his long range attacks. In this game Jim was able to keep his land raider and dreadnought going past the first turn and Librarian Sobel also managed to stay out of trouble for awhile. Once in the center of the board both sides inflicted heavy damage to each other with Marshall knocking out Jim's Land raider as well as most of his command squad, tactical and an assault squad. Jim was able to destroy numerous units of infantry as well as a punisher tank and the main armament of one of the Chimera variants (can't remember the name and don't have the codex in front of me). By the end of the battle it looked like the IG had won the day but when kill points were counted it came out to a DRAW!

It was a good battle and everyone had fun.

Battle Report March 21 2010

A quick recap for those who weren't there.

We played the battle missions scenario vanguard. The fight was over the ruined city. Each side had about 1000 points. It started out as a pretty even match with both sides taking hits. Jim lost his dreadnought early on from a hit from Matt's demolisher tank. Jim teleported his terminator librarian with a terminator unit across the map to engage some of Matt's infantry. This is where things took a turn for the worst. Jim's unit engaged and destroyed a good part of Matt's HQ unit but the next turn they tried to work their way towards Matt's leman russ tank. Jim tried a pretty crazy close to the edge of the table teleport with disastrous results! The librarian took himself and the whole unit of terminators off the edge of the map and removed them from play. Jim's assault marines flew across the map and engaged one of Matt's squads who were holding an objective. Matt's tank rained hell down upon Jim's units of men crushing many under bombardments from their battle cannons and demolisher cannons. All in all aside from a few small mistakes. Matt ended up holding 2 objectives while Jim had none. A victory for the imperial guard!

Well it ain't Pretty :)

But here's the first attempt at a video. They will get better trust me..

The Orks run by my brother Ed took on Jim and Mike's Imperial Guard. It was a battle for claiming an objective from the opponent. The Battle was pretty nasty and the Imperial Guard took slightly larger losses than the Orks. The Orks reached the objective on the imperial guard side but could not break their hold on the position so the battle was a draw. The Imperial Guard did go for a last ditch effort to reach their goal but could not get there in time while still under heavy fire from the Orks. Pretty good game all around, i just wish i had remembered to record more...

Death Has come

So last weekend my Necron army destroyed the Imperial Guard. This army really is quite a nasty one and unless an opponent's army is designed to take them on they will probably lose. The army has no real weakness aside from point cost and rigid troop selections and the lack of customization. Which in game terms don't amount to much. I do, however like to customize an army and really hope they get a new codex soon. Do i think the army is a cheesy army? no. I think that up against another army who is equally tough like space marines, chaos, eldar, or possibly Tau they might have a hard time of it.

In any case i am currently getting a chaos space marine army together and as soon as it is up to playable numbers i will start on my eldar army of Biel Tan.

This weekend we will be heading down to Maryland (or Beachwood, NJ for those who aren't in the know) to play with Mike at his house. This time it will be Imperial Guard against Okrs or possibly Tyranids.

I'll post as soon as something else important comes up.
